My wife uses this to ease tension in her lower back after a long day nursing. She describes the warmth as “moist heat” although there is no moisture involved; just the relaxing heat that equates with a soak in our whirlpool tub. I’ve tried it and it is indeed very comforting. The only downside is the short lifespan of the product. We’re on our third unit now with each lasting approximately one year with regular use. We’ve contacted Amazon and the seller and both told us we were essentially out of luck as far as warranty replacement. You’d think a product of this nature would be a bit more resilient as it is marketed for frequent use. Besides, it is an electrical device and should be built more robustly for safety. Our second unit developed a hot-spot that began to discolor the fabric cover so we retired it fearing a serious burn to my wife or possibly a fire hazard. Still no joy from the manufacturer, seller, and/or Amazon. Otherwise, the Thermophore pad works very well until it doesn’t.
